Trade Era

It’s outdated, there wasn’t a machine and people didn’t go to factories to work so what were they doing? They use the Barter System. What is the Barter system? You exchange things for other things. Let’s say, for example, you have wheat and I have cotton.

Marketing was known as exploration in that era. It meant that marketing was about seeing the benefits that another is offering. This was the Era when man discovered oil and gas.

Production Era

The ” Production Era” is a period that began in 1860 and ended in 1910. This was when factories were established and machines were installed. People started working in factories.

What was the purpose of marketing in production? Marketing was about increasing production efficiency. Marketing was doing its job. A servant making ten packets per day should convert them to ten to 15 each.

Sales Era

This was the third Era, ” sales Era”. It was an interesting time. What is the sales Era? Production will be involved, and marketing has been focused. Now the product is ready for sale. To sell the product, you will need a salesperson.

The period began in 1920 and ended in 1930 when the company hired a salesperson to train them, then they sold the products on the market. Marketing was just the term for selling back then.

Marketing Era

This Era began in 1940 and ended in 1950 when marketers realized that selling and production were more than marketing. Branding, advertising, and brochures are also important.

This Era began in 1960 and ended in 1990. In this era brand development, production, and selling people all sat at the same table. Relationship Era

The company began its journey to profitability in 1990. It soon discovered that selling and branding were not the best options for the customer.

Branding and selling don’t work. So what’s the solution? The answer was relationship. The relationship Era is when companies build strong relationships with customers to become long-term customers.

Social Media Marketing Era

The Era of you, and young people like myself, we call ” Social Media Marketing Era”. What is the social media marketing Era, you ask? This is the moment you and I are both breathing.

The company realized that digital technology was becoming more common in 2010 and needed to digitalize the customer relationship. Because customers are mostly accessible on social media.
